MarginCall Known Issues
Player-reported friction after the 19 August 2026 launch.
This page is a field notebook, not a bug tracker. It collects questions that showed up in Steam discussions during launch week so you can tell operator error from software. Official fixes belong in patch notes. If your save is on fire, stop adding risk first.
Ticket and portfolio
“Is there a way to place market orders?” Yes. See the order types chooser and How to Trade. If the control is hard to see, look at ticket type, not at a missing feature.
Bought an index (players mentioned SMP 500) and it is not in the portfolio. Check Positions versus Markets, funds versus cash equity versus futures, and realised P/L. Launch hotfix added acquired dates and income per holding. If it is still gone, it may be a real bug; do not buy it a second time until you find the first fill.
Moving TP/SL and missing live P/L. Use the open-position strip, Close buttons, and thesis cards. The ticket is for sending, the strip is for living positions.
Income screen confusion. Players open Income and cannot map the lines to the trade they just closed. Read How to Read Financials for statement layout, then check realised P/L and dividend lines on Positions. Company Income is not the same panel as your personal Life cashflow.
Order blotter wish-list. Launch praise often arrives with a request for a denser blotter. That is feedback, not proof that fills are missing. Until a denser blotter ships, use Positions, Orders, History, and Alerts on the left rail described in Controls.
Confirmation dialogue. Some players want a second click before a marketable order. Check settings. Absence of a confirm is not absence of the order type.
Layout, graphics, and platforms
Pinned companies going off-screen. Unpin, scroll, or walk names with arrow keys on company screens (Controls).
Graphics bugs. Launch threads reported them. Try CRT/Glow off (the default after the hotfix), restart, and a verify of game files on Steam. Specs live on system requirements: Windows 10 64-bit minimum, dual-core 2.5 GHz, 8 GB RAM, DirectX 11, about 1 GB disk.
Linux / Steam Deck? Steam lists Windows only. Proton is unofficial. Do not treat a black screen on an unsupported stack as a missing market-order button.
Buildings screen, tables, language clipping. Hotfix and localisation notes already targeted scrolling buildings, CJK column alignment, and German tab clipping. If a table still overflows, change UI scale before assuming the data is wrong.
Simulation questions that are not bugs
How does production work? It is a bill of materials tied to live commodity prices. Read How to Run Production.
Can I upgrade facilities? You set data-center fill, source servers, run R&D, and watch rivals build. There is no separate arcade upgrade tree.
Options trading? Yes. Chains exist. New books should still treat them as advanced. Ranked accordingly on asset class tiers.
IPO subsidiary and company view. Nested subsidiaries and runnable subsidiaries are patch features. Use IPO and subsidiaries and How to Take Over Companies.
How does this compare to Wall Street Raider? Different machine. Full aisle guide: MarginCall vs Wall Street Raider.
No forward P/E. Players asked. Trailing P/E and statements exist. Until a forward multiple ships, do not invent one.
“List of a bunch of bugs.” Bundle threads appear every launch. Reproduce once, screenshot ticket + Positions + header cash, note start year and build date, then post on Steam. Do not raise size while you cannot see the book.
How to report without wrecking the save
Reproduce once. Screenshot the ticket, Positions, and the header cash line. Note start year and patch date. Post on Steam discussions or mail the support address on the store page. Then play a smaller size until you trust the book again. The margin calculator is a better next click than another 20x ticket.
This wiki will not claim a bug is fixed until Steam News or a widely reproduced patch says so. We will also not claim a missing tutorial is a crash. MarginCall is dense on purpose. Density plus launch week is messy. Play anyway, just not blind.
A calm checklist before you post
Confirm you are on the latest Steam build. Confirm CRT is off. Confirm you looked at Positions and Markets. Confirm the product type. Confirm you did not already spend the cash as margin. Confirm Windows before you blame Linux Proton. Then post. If the answer is a guide, you will find it from Getting Started or How to Trade faster than a thread. If the answer is a patch, it will land on patch notes. Either way, cut size until the book is visible again.
Frequently Asked Questions
Direct answers drawn from the same mechanics this wiki covers in depth.
My holding vanished. What do I do?
Search Positions and Markets, check product type, and avoid a second buy until you find the first. Then report it with screenshots.
Is a missing confirmation click a bug?
Not by itself. Look in settings. Use limits if you are afraid of fat-finger markets.
Does MarginCall support Linux?
Steam lists Windows only. Proton is unofficial and unsupported here.
Where should I ask the developers?
Steam discussions, the Functionally Human Discord linked from the Links hub, or the support email on the Steam app details. This wiki is unofficial.
